Etihad Airways – Network enhancements (Kuala Lumpur)

Etihad Airways plans to increase flights between Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur from January 15, 2024. Additionally, a fourth daily flight to Mumbai will be added in November, and the frequency to Colombo will rise to 10 weekly flights by May 2024.

The second daily flight to Kuala Lumpur, starting January 15, 2024, will provide travelers with 14 weekly flights. It aims to optimize travel timings for UAE residents. Also, the new daytime and nighttime flights from Kuala Lumpur will give more options to explore Abu Dhabi for both business and leisure.

Etihad Airways’ Chief Revenue Officer, Arik De, stated, “With our convenient departures from Abu Dhabi, our second Kuala Lumpur flights will optimize timings for UAE residents seeking to experience Malaysia. Furthermore, the new daytime and nighttime flights from Kuala Lumpur will provide travelers with more options to explore Abu Dhabi for both business and leisure. This expansion underscores our commitment to attracting more guests to enjoy Abu Dhabi and connecting them to our growing global network.”

Kuala Lumpur is known for its iconic Petronas Twin Towers and diverse culture, offering rich culinary scenes and vibrant markets. Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft will operate both flights, with in-flight Wi-Fi.

This expansion will see Etihad Airways offering approximately 425,000 seats annually between Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur, marking a 75% year-on-year capacity increase. Moreover, it will boost annual cargo capacity, creating more business opportunities and supporting bilateral trade growth.

With the upcoming winter timetable, Etihad Airways will increase connectivity between Abu Dhabi and Southeast Asian cities to 77 weekly flights. These cities include Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Phuket, Manila, Jakarta, and Singapore, providing more travel options for passengers.
