A TUI Airways flight operating from Manchester to Ohrid, Macedonia declared an emergency before diverting to Frankfurt on 1 September 2024.
TUI flight BY342, a Boeing 737-800 outbound from Manchester Airport (MAN) declared the emergency with transponder code 7700 whilst in German airspace.

The aircraft was to the west of Nuremberg on flight plan track for Ohrid St. Paul The Apostle Airport when the emergency was declared.
Following this, flight crew elected to backtrack and divert to nearby Frankfurt am Main international Airport (FRA).
It is understood that the diversion was made due to an on-board medical emergency. The flight was subsequently able to continue from the diversion airport to Ohrid (OHD).
 Flight data shows that TUI flight BY342 had made a delayed departure out of Manchester airport. Actual time of departure was logged as 0746 local time on Sunday 1 September. Scheduled departure time for the service was listed as 0650 local time.
The flight then proceeded normally, setting course and climbing to flight level FL370 (37,000 feet). It then proceeded on the south easterly flight plan route to Macedonia.
Flight crew then squawked transponder code 7700 whilst in cruising flight at 0814 UTC, before diverting to Frankfurt (FRA).
The aircraft conducting the BY342 service from Manchester was a Boeing 737-800, registered OM-GTJ. This is a 24.1-year-old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the charter carrier Go2Sky.
It has been on an operational lease from the carrier by TUI Airways since April 2023.
